CHRISTMAS-Why should we celebrate Christmas?

Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people all over the world. It is celebrated as a major festival and public holiday in countries around the world even in nations with low Christian population.
Christmas has been termed the season of love, little wonder it is celebrated with an exchange of gifts, singing of christmas poems and carols, social and family gatherings, symbolic decoration of the house and streets and for the christians, participating in a religious service plays an important part in the recognition of the season. But this is not the reason for christmas.

Why do we celebrate Chrismas then?

Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary as a fulfillment of the old testament's prophecy through prophet Isaiah.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon  the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
But while a lot of us celebrate christmas, have we ever considered what it truly symbolize? If we say we agree and believe that christmas is the anniversary of the birth of Jesus, do we all believe in the reason why He was born?
In the book of Mattew 1 vs 21; we are told that his name will be Jesus, and he will deliever the people from there sins. suffice to say that the eccense of christmas is to deliever us from the power of sin and to reconcile us to God the Father. With this in mind, i would implore us to see christmas as an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to Christ and that which he lived for (the kingdom). Christmas is a time of love and we should endavour to spread the love to our unbelieving neighbours by preaching the gospel of the Birth, Death, and Resurrection of Christ to them. Only then can we truly have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Thanks for reading. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year In advance.

The Transitional You (#2)

Having established the fact that you are a transition person, I would like to go deeper on the subject of who a transitional person is.
From Stephen R. Covey’s definition of a transition person, we got to realize that a transition person is that person who breaks the flow of negative occurrences in there generation. In other words, he is a person who consciously choose to be different. He is that person who identifies a problem in his environment and take actions to solve the problem. He is essentially a problem solver.
Transitional people are not mere talkers. They are people who realize that for them to identify a problem, the onus rest on them to solve it and they have in their possession all that is needed to solve it. God won’t show you a problem or even send his word to you for you to have a head knowledge of it, God reveals things to us because he wants a response from us. He wants us to do something about it.
They saw negative situations but instead of talking, complaining, pushing blames, or debating over it, they made some decisions. These decisions constitute the core attributes/characteristics of a transition individual, and they are;
  • They choose to stop the flow.
  • They took actions, definite steps to stop the flow.
  • They dared to different from others. They had a strong character and imbibed principles which made them stand out among their peers.
  • They believed in possibilities.
With the present state of the nation, don’t you think it is time to stop talking and take a different approach to solving our problems? Talking and complaining was the approach of our predecessors, and we can see how far we have come. I believe it’s time we took our destiny in our hands and stop the blaming game.
In the next series of post, I would be discussing this characteristics in-depth. But until then, meditate on these wise sayings. God bless you.
I want it said of me by those who knew me best, that I always plucked thistles [WEED] and planted flowers where I thought a flower would grow. –ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Duty is a very personal thing, It is what comes from knowing the need to take action and not just a need to urge others to do something. –MOTHER TERESA
God gives every bird a worm, but HE does not throw it into their nest. –SWEDISH PROVERB
Only the weak blame parents, their race, their times, lack of good fortune, or the quirks of fate. Everyone has it within his power to say, This I am today; that I will be tomorrow. –LOUIS L’AMOUR

The Transitional You (One)

Meet the Transitional YOU

In a nation where turmoil dominate the daily news and words of discouragement and bleakness of a better tomorrow often prevail. Where we hear so much of corporate scandals and pervading news of corruption on all fronts.
In a nation where little or no importance is placed on the economical, educational, security and sociological well being of Her citizens. Where graduating top of the class seems to be of little relevance to how quickly (If you'd get at all) you get a job. Where the phrase “... I've been looking for a job for ...” has become a mantra that it attracts little or no attention anymore.
I as a Nigerian I'am tired of these and believe most if not all Nigerians are also. And like the Israelites of old, enslaved in Egypt, we are earnestly craving for a Moses. A leader who will deliver us from the tyrannous rule imposed on us by the numerous problems of this nation.
I’ve got a good news for you though. The Moses we have all been waiting for is here. Infact, He has been around for a while now and like us, He is becoming adapted to this lifestyle.
Now who is this Moses? you’d ask. The Moses here is the TRANSITIONAL YOU.He is that part of you that so much crave for a better Nigeria, that you always wish that you can become the President overnight and effect a change. He is that you that spends a great part of your time meditating on the various problems of this nation, tweeting and blogging, discussing with friends and families on the recent, often not encouraging news of the government’s insensitivity to the plight of her impoverished citizens.
According to Stephen R. Covey,
“A transition person is that individual who breaks the flow of bad- the negative traditions, harmful practices that gets passed from generation to generation.”
If you agree with me that this nation is in need of change and that you have got what it takes to make this nation the great nation it truly is, then you are that transitional individual that we need to re-write the story of this nation. Remember,
God will not do for men what he has given them the ability to do for themselves      -Anonymous
We have all it takes to make this country better. Yes! prayer is good, but it will not solve our problems if all we do is pray and do nothing about it.
Therefore over the coming weeks, we would be examining on how you can steer up the transitional person in you and thereby kickstart the much needed revolution which is needed to take this nation to the next level. Looking forward to an impacting and fulfilling journey with you. I shall leave you with this poem from ETIENNE De GRELLET . Enjoy!!!

“I shall pass through this life but once.
Any good, therefore, that I can do

Or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature,

Let me do it now.

Let me not defer or neglect it,

For I shall not pass this way again.”
